Next, you need to define the condition that will trigger the action. We want to post to Facebook whenever a WordPress post is published. So you’ll need to click the WordPress icon under ‘Select an integration’.

You’ll now see a list of WordPress triggers. You should search for ‘publish’ and choose the trigger called ‘A user publishes a type of post with a taxonomy term in a taxonomy‘.

You'll See a List of WordPress Triggers

For this tutorial, we want to post to Facebook when we publish a blog post, not a page. So we’ll change the post type to Post and leave the other settings unchanged. Don’t forget to save your settings by clicking the Save button.

Change the Post Type to 'Post'

If you only want certain types of content to be posted on Facebook, then you can choose a single category or tag by selecting the appropriate options from the Taxonomy and Taxonomy term drop downs.

Next, you need to add the post title and URL to the message. You need to press the Enter key to start a new line, and then you should click the asterisk button at the right of the Message text box.

The available tokens include the post type and title, the post URL and content, and more. You should click on ‘Post title’ to insert it into the message.

Click Post Title to Insert It into the Message

Follow the same steps to add the post URL to a line of its own. The message should now look like the screenshot below, and you can customize it to suit your own WordPress site and Facebook page.

Completed Message

Don’t forget to click the Save button to store your action.

If you like, you can set add a delay before Uncanny Automator posts to Facebook. That way you can schedule the post for when your social media audience is most active.

You need to hover your mouse above the Live switch on the right until a Delay button appears. Once you click it you’ll be able to choose whether the action will be triggered after a time delay or on a specific date and time.

Switch the Toggle Button from Draft to Live

Now that your recipe is live, the next time you publish a post on your WordPress website, a message will also be posted to your Facebook page.

How to Allow User Registration on Your WordPress Site

Do you want to allow users to register on your site?

You can enable user registration in WordPress to allow users to add posts, comment, or perform other actions on your website.

In this article, we’ll show you how to easily allow user registration on your WordPress site and how to manage users.

Allowing user registration in WordPress

Here is the list of topics we will cover in this tutorial:

Note: This guide focuses on adding users to your WordPress site with default user roles and capabilities. If you’re looking to make money online by allowing users to pay for premium content and access to a community, then you should see our ultimate guide to creating a WordPress membership site instead.

Enabling User Registration in WordPress

WordPress comes with built-in functionality to manage user registrations. It is turned off by default, but you can easily turn it on.

Simply head over to the Settings » General page in your WordPress admin area. Scroll down to the ‘Membership’ section and check the box next to ‘Anyone can register’ option.

Open user registration in WordPress

Next you need to select the default user role. This is the user role assigned to each new user who registers on your website.

Each user role in WordPress comes with its own permissions and capabilities. See our guide on WordPress user roles and permissions to learn more about user roles in WordPress.

The default user role is ‘Subscriber’, which you can change to any other user role available.

For example, if you want users to write posts on your website then you can change the default user role to Contributor or Author.

Important: Never use ‘Administrator’ as the default user role for user registrations, or a new user may be able to take over your website and lock you out.

Don’t forget to click on the Save Changes button to store your settings.

Now your WordPress site is open to user registrations. You can visit your WordPress login page, and you’ll see an option to register as a new user.

Register for new account

After opening your website for user registration, you would want to let users know that they can sign up and login to their account.

There are multiple ways to do that.

You can simply add links in your WordPress sidebar to your login and registration page, or you can create custom login and registration pages for your website.

We’ll show you 3 different methods, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

Method 1: Adding The Meta Widget to WordPress Sidebar

The simplest way to add a login link is by adding the meta widget to your sidebar.

Simply go to the Appearance » Widgets page and add the ‘Meta’ widget to a sidebar. You can see our guide on how to add and use widgets in WordPress for detailed instructions.

Add meta widget to your WordPress sidebar

The meta widget includes links to register, log in / log out, RSS feed, comments feed, and WordPress.org website.

This is how it appears on our example website:

Method 2: Creating Custom Login Pages Using WPForms

The problem with the first method is that there is no way to customize the registration or login forms. You can’t add form fields or change the design of the forms, and they wouldn’t match the design of your website.

By using your own custom login pages, you can offer a much better user experience. You can embed your forms on any page on your website, and add form fields to collect any information you want.

We’ll show you different ways to create your own custom login pages. The easiest one is by using the WPForms plugin.

WPForms is the best WordPress contact form plugin on the market. It comes with a user registration addon that allows you to easily add login and registration forms anywhere on your website.

WPForms website

First thing you need to do is install and activate the WPForms plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Note: You will need at least Pro license to access user registration addon.

Upon activation, you need to visit WPForms » Settings page to enter your license key. You can get this license key from your account on WPForms website.

WPForms license key

After verification, you need to head over to WPForms » Addons page.

On this page, scroll down to ‘User Registration Addon’ and click on the Install Addon button next to it.

User registration addon

WPForms will install the addon, and then you will need to click on the activate button to start using it.

You are now ready to create custom registration and login forms using WPForms.

Creating a Custom Registration Form

Simply visit the WPForms » Add New page to launch the WPForms’ form builder.

First you need to enter a form name and then search for user registration template under the ‘Select a Template’ section.

Select user registration template

Click on the ‘Use Template’ button to continue, and WPForms will create a simple WordPress user registration form for you.

You can now add new fields from the left panel as well as customize the order of existing fields by using a simple drag and drop interface.

Edit user registration form

Once you are done adding the fields, click on the ‘Settings’ menu on the left.

Then select the ‘User Registration’ tab.

Map form fields

Here you can map each form field to information in the user’s profile, select the user role, enable notifications, select the confirmation page, and enable user activation.

The user activation feature helps you reduce spam user registration in WordPress.

If you select the manual method, then all users must be approved by an admin before they can login to your site.

user activation options

If you select the email method, then the user must click on an activation link before they can login to your website.

Besides adding form fields, you can also connect your form with other WPForms addons.

For instance, you can connect to your email marketing service provider and automatically add new users to your email list. Similarly, you can connect WPForms to payment services like PayPal and Stripe to receive online payments.

When you’re finished, don’t forget to click on the Save button at the top right corner of the screen to save your form settings.

You can now exit the form builder by clicking on the close button.

Your user registration form is ready to be added to your WordPress site.

Simply create a new WordPress page or edit an existing page that you would like to use as the registration page.

On the page edit screen, you need to add WPForms blocks to your content area.

Add WPForms block

From the WPForms block, simply click on the drop down menu and select the ‘User registration form’ you created earlier.

You can now save or publish your page, and then visit the page to see your custom user registration page in action.

Creating a Custom Login Form

Now that your custom user registration page is active, let’s add a custom login form to your WordPress site.

To get started, visit WPForms » Add New. This will launch the form builder interface of WPForms.

You need to provide a name for your custom login form and then select ‘User Login Form’ as your template.

Login form template

WPForms will now create a new login form.

By default, it only has the username and password fields.

Edit login form

You can add additional fields to the form by adding them from the left panel.

Next, you need to click on the settings tab and then click on the ‘Confirmation’ tab. This is where you can define what to do after a successful login.

You can show users a message, redirect them to the page they came from, or redirect them to any other page on your site.

Login form confirmation

Click on the Save button on the top right corner of the screen to store your form settings.

You can now exit the form builder interface by clicking on the close button.

Your custom login form is ready to be added into your WordPress site.

You can add your custom login form to a page by creating a new page and then adding the WPForms block to the content area.

Adding login form to a page

You can also add your custom login form to a sidebar.

Simply head over to Appearance » Widgets page and add the WPForms block or the legacy widget to a sidebar.

Add login form to your sidebar

Select the custom login form you just created from the drop-down menu, and then click on the Update button to store your widget settings.

You can now visit your website to see your custom login form in action.

Enter your SeedProd license key

Set up a login page

Next, you will be asked to choose a template for your login page.

SeedProd comes with several professionally designed templates to choose from, or you can also start with a blank canvas.

Choose login page template

Next, you need to provide a name and URL for your custom login page.

Then click on Save and Start Editing button to continue.

Login page settings

This will launch the SeedProd’s page builder interface.

How to Add Your WordPress Site to Google Search Console

One of the most important step in optimizing your WordPress site for SEO is adding it to Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools).

Google Search Console offers specific webmaster tools to help website owners monitor and maintain their search presence and rankings.

In this guide, we will show you how to easily add and verify your WordPress site in Google Search Console also known as Webmaster Tools.

How to easily add your WordPress site to Google Search Console

What is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console is a free tool offered by Google to help website owners monitor their website’s presence in Google search results.

It helps you track search rankings along with keeping you updated about site errors, security issues, and indexing issues that may affect your website’s search performance.

If you are serious about WordPress SEO, then you need to add it to Google webmaster tools from day one.

That being, let’s take a look at how to easily add your site to Google Search Console.

If you’d prefer written instructions, just keep reading.

Adding Your WordPress Site to Google Search Console

First, you need to visit the Google Search Console website and click on the ‘Start Now’ button.

Start Google Search Console

Next, you’ll need to sign in with your Google / Gmail account.

Once logged in, you’ll be asked to enter your website URL.

There are two methods for site verification: domain name or URL prefix. We recommend the URL prefix method because it is more flexible.

Add website URL

Keep in mind that Google considers an HTTP and HTTPS as two different protocols. It also considers https://www.example.com and https://example.com as two different websites.

You need to enter the correct website URL used by WordPress.

If you are unsure, then there is an easy way to find out the exact URL you need to enter. Simply login to your WordPress admin area and go to Settings » General page.

There you will see your website’s URL in the site address field.

Copy your site address from WordPress settings page

After entering your correct website address in Google webmaster tools setup wizard, click on the ‘Continue’ button to go to the next step.

Now, you’ll be asked to verify ownership of your website. There are several ways to do that, but we will show the HTML tag method because it is the easiest one.

Copy the HTML tag

Click on the HTML tag to expand it and then copy the code inside it.

Now, you need to add this Google site verification meta tag in WordPress, so Google can verify that you are the owner of the website.

Most WordPress tutorials will guide you to just edit the header.php file in your WordPress theme and add the code just above the <body> tag.

However, we don’t recommend this method because if you update or change your theme, then the HTML tag will disappear.

Google periodically checks for the HTML tag and will disable your access to the site data in the search console if it cannot find the verification tag.

Here is how to make sure that Google can always verify your ownership of the website.

First, you need to install and activate the All in One SEO plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, go to All in One SEO » General Settings » Webmaster Tools page and click on “Google Search Console”.

The Webmaster Tools page in All in One SEO, to select Google Search Console

Then paste the code you copied from Google Search Console into the “Google Verification Code” box.

Don’t forget to click on the ‘Save Changes’ button to store your changes.

You can now go back to Google Search Console settings and click on the ‘Verify’ button.

Verify ownership

Google Search Console will now look for the HTML tag in your website code and will show you a success message.

Your website successfully added to Search Console

Note: If you don’t see a success message, then you need to clear your WordPress cache. This will ensure that Google can fetch the latest version of your website.

That’s all. You have successfully added your site to the Google Search Console (Webmaster tools). You can now click on the ‘Go to Property’ link to visit your Google Search Console dashboard.

Google Search Console dashboard

From here you can see your website’s performance reports and index coverage.

Before you do that, let’s tell Google a little bit more about your website. This will help Google crawl your website a bit more efficiently.

Add XML Sitemap to Google Search Console

An XML sitemap is a file that lists all your website content in XML format, so search engines like Google can easily discover and index your content.

The good news is, if you installed the All in One SEO plugin in the steps above, you’ve already added an XML sitemap to your site automatically.

To see your sitemap, go to All in One SEO » Sitemaps. From here, you can see the sitemap is automatically enabled for you.

Enable sitemap in All in One SEO

Next, you need to get the XML sitemap link. Simply click on the ‘Open Sitemap’ button, and you will see a link to your XML sitemap.

All in One SEO XML sitemap preview

From here, you can just copy the URL from your browser’s address bar.

Alternatively, you can directly access your XML sitemap by adding sitemap.xml at the end of your website address. For example:

https://www.example.com/sitemap.xml

Now that you have XML sitemap ready, let’s help Google find it quickly.

Simply switch to the Google Search Console dashboard and click on the Sitemaps menu from the left column.

Add your sitemap URL to Google Search Console

After that, you need to add the last part of your sitemap URL under the ‘Add new sitemap’ section and click the Submit button.

Google will now add your sitemap URL to your Google Search Console.

AIOSEO also comes with several other sitemaps like Video Sitemap, News Sitemap, and RSS sitemap that all help you get a competitive advantage and rank higher in SEO.

The process of submitting those sitemaps is the same as above.

That’s all, you have successfully added your website to Google Search Console.

The next step is to learn how to use the treasure trove of information in Google search console to grow your business. We have a complete Google Search Console guide for beginners which shows you how to make the most out of Google Search Console data.

How to Add Your Website to Bing Webmaster Tools

Do you want to submit your WordPress site to Bing Webmaster Tools?

Bing is among the top search engines in the world. Submitting your site to its webmaster tool helps you monitor your site’s performance and keyword rankings and fix indexing issues.

In this article, we’ll show you how to add your websites to Bing Webmaster Tools.

How to add your website to Bing Webmaster Tools

What is Bing Webmaster Tools?

Bing Webmaster Tools is a free service by Microsoft that allows you to add your website to Bing search engine results.

This free tool helps your WordPress SEO by optimizing your site for Bing, so you can get more traffic.

The webmaster tools help you monitor and track your site’s performance in Bing. You can find out which keywords people use to find your site, so you can optimize those search terms in the content and get more traffic.

You can also see how Bing crawls and indexes your content. This helps to uncover and resolve indexing issues that might be preventing a blog post from appearing in Bing search results.

Aside from that, Bing Webmaster Tools shows your site’s backlinks and which websites you are linking to. It also helps remove content that you don’t want to display on Bing search results and scan for potential malware or spam issues that can threaten your WordPress website security.

That said, let’s see how you can add a website to Bing Webmaster Tools using the All in One SEO (AIOSEO) and WPCode plugin. We’ll also show how you can use the webmaster tool and import your site from Google Search Console.

You can use the links below to jump to the method you want to use.

Method 1: Add Website to Bing Webmaster Tools Using AIOSEO

The best way to add a website to Bing Webmaster Tools is using All in One SEO (AIOSEO).

View your site address URL

Once you add this website URL in Bing Webmaster Tools, a window will slide in from the right.

Import Your Website from Google Search Console

You can also add your WordPress site to Bing Webmaster Tools by importing it from Google Search Console.

If you use this method, then you don’t have to worry about verifying your website by adding an HTML code. However, Bing will need access to your Google account, which could be a security risk if either your Webmaster Tools or Google account gets compromised.

To start, you can log in to Bing using your Microsoft, Bing, or Facebook account.

Next, go ahead and click the ‘Import’ button under the Import your site from the GSC section.

Bonus: How to Use Bing Webmaster Tools

In the Webmaster Tools dashboard, you have access to many different tools and options. Do note that Bing will take up to 48 hours to reflect data in its webmaster tools reports after setting it up on your WordPress site.

For example, you can view your site’s search performance by going to the Search Performance tab. You can then use this data to see which search terms people use to find your website and perform keyword research to develop new content ideas.

Similarly, the tool also lets you inspect a specific URL to see if there are any crawling issues. You can simply enter the post or page link in the URL Inspection tab and view the errors.

How to Add Topics in WordPress Navigation Menus

Do you want to learn how to add topics in your WordPress navigation menu?

Often beginners users try to add topics in WordPress menu by creating a separate page for each topic. But that’s not the best way because adding these pages to a menu won’t display the relevant posts.

In this article, we will show you how to properly add topics in WordPress by using categories and tags in WordPress navigation menus.

How to Add Categories and Tags in WordPress Navigation Menus

Why Add Topics in WordPress Navigation Menus?

Let’s say you have a WordPress website that offers travel guides for different cities. You may want to add city names in your navigation menu, so that your visitors see relevant articles when they click the menu item.

Alternatively, if you have a news website like The New York Times or ESPN, you would want to highlight the various topics in the navigation menu.

WordPress makes it quite easy to add topics if you organize your content using categories and tags.

Categories cover your website’s main topics like a table of contents, while tags cover more specific topics like an index. You can learn more by reading our guide on the difference between categories and tags.

Let’s take a look at how you can use categories and tags to organize your content, and then add those topics to your WordPress navigation menu for easy access.

Adding Categories and Tags to WordPress Posts

You can add or select categories while writing your blog posts. The categories box will appear on the right column of the WordPress content editor.

If you need to add a new category, then just click the ‘Add New Category’ link below the list of your existing categories.

For example, on a travel blog, you might create categories for each city you’ve written about, such as ‘Paris’, ‘Amsterdam’, ‘Berlin’, ‘Instanbul’, and ‘London’.

Adding Categories and Tags to a Post

You can also add tags from inside the content editor by simply typing into ‘Tags’ field on the right. When adding more than one tag, you need to separate them with commas.

If you want to choose a tag that you have previously created, then you need to type the first few characters and your matching tags will pop up. Then simply click the tag you want to use.

On a travel blog, you could add tags for the more specific topics covered in a certain post, for example, ‘Food’, ‘Night Life’, ‘Walking Tours’, and ‘Rail Travel’.

Once you have created a few posts and filed them under different categories and tags, you can now add them to your site’s navigation menu.
